Title of Project: R2D2 the Robot
Abstract of Project:
R2D2 the Robot is a very special little droid. I took a stationary model of R2D2 and create a unique remote controlled R2D2 robot with an internal USB camera. R2D2 is drivable from your computer, phone, or other electronic devices and you will see everything R2D2 does. To do this, I made significant modifications to the inside of R2D2. This made it possible to fit all the electronic components inside that are needed to control R2. I created my own user interface web page that is accessible, and has buttons along with the camera feed. I also used an advanced microcontroller that is capable of handling the large amounts of data from the USB camera.
Goals:
Goal#1: Created a R2D2 robot that can be accessed and controlled from anywhere with an internet connection.
Goal#2: Learned electronic skills that will help me become a successful electronic engineer.
Outcome:
I created this robot to help me to become more proficient in my major, and has given me a better understanding of robotics and electronics. This will eventually lead me to have the ability to help create robots that will change the world.
Deliverable's:
Now that the project is complete, I can provide pictures of the entire process, and will even be able to give a demonstration of the robot if wanted. An additional deliverable that I just recently decided to make is a power-point that I can use for demonstrates and teach my fellow electronics students.
Justification:
About a week ago, I was asked by a teacher to give a little demonstration on R2D2. This teach wants me to show a group of students the process I went through to create R2. Along with that, I will need to show some of the coding, and engineering that I created for R2. I will be giving a live demonstration, but the majority or the process will be easier to explain in a power-point presentation. For this reason, I have decided to add the additional deliverable of creating a power-point.
